Vote April 6 for Judge Shelley Grogan

For Wisconsin Court of Appeals

Why I’m Running

I’m running to serve you as a Judge on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals because you deserve a Judge who will always stand up for the rule of law and protect our Constitutional freedoms. The Constitution is the law and I will not set it aside or legislate from the bench. I will apply the law written by your legislators and respect the role of the judicial branch to act independently and impartially in every case.

Our courts need conservative jurists who execute the duties of judicial office consistent with our system of representative government. We need judges committed to law and order. I bring my conservative judicial philosophy, enthusiasm, extensive experience, strong work ethic, and dedication to the people of Wisconsin. I would be honored to serve as your District II Appellate Court Judge.

My experience working with true constitutional conservative judges and justices over the past 25 years makes me the best person to serve you.  I served as the judicial law clerk to both Judge Ted Wedemeyer and Judge Ralph Adam Fine at the court of appeals. When Governor Scott Walker appointed Rebecca Bradley to the open seat, I joined her staff.  When Rebecca Bradley moved to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, I became her permanent Judicial Assistant.  Working side-by-side with Justice Rebecca Bradley, I do the same tasks that appellate judges and justices do.

I’m grateful to have earned the endorsement of both Justices Rebecca Bradley and Dan Kelly.  Like them, I will work tirelessly to preserve, protect, and defend our Constitutional freedoms and the rule of law.   I am also proud to be endorsed by the majority of the Sheriffs in the 12 counties of the District 2 court of appeals.

In addition to my work with Justice Rebecca Bradley, I am the current sitting judge in the City of Muskego, where I have lived for over 25 years. I am also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School.

The responsibility entrusted to the courts is immense, and the position must be filled by individuals who understand that a judge is a servant of the people. I understand this relationship between judges and the people. This is why I take my job so seriously and why I am so passionate about the law–about making sure that legal issues are resolved based on the law, not on personal preferences, predetermined outcomes, or media headlines. I have done this for over 25 years and have gained extensive experience in all areas of the law–civil and criminal. I am committed to serving the people of Wisconsin. I commit to deciding every case based on what the law is–not on what a judge thinks it ought to be. I commit to being an appellate court judge you will be proud to have voted for and who you can always count on to act with honor, integrity, and an undivided commitment to the Constitution and the rule of law. When I put on my black robe and enter my courtroom, I work for you.

“I have worked closely with Judge Shelley Grogan for more than five years and am confident that she will continue to faithfully defend the Constitution and uphold the rule of law. With more than 25 years of experience serving the people of Wisconsin in the appellate courts, and most recently as a municipal judge in Muskego, Judge Grogan will bring unparalleled experience to the District II Court of Appeals. Judge Grogan is the only judicial conservative in this race and I enthusiastically endorse her candidacy.”

“I am pleased to endorse Shelley Grogan in her campaign for a seat on the Court of Appeals, District II.  Over the course of several years, I’ve watched her analyze some of the most complex legal issues Wisconsin courts ever address.  She is unfailingly insightful, and precise.  Just as importantly, she is committed to applying our Constitution and statutes as they are written, without regard to personal opinions or preferences.  I am confident our fellow Wisconsinites will be proud to call her a judge of the Court of Appeals.”

About Judge Shelley

A bit about me personally:  I grew up the second oldest of seven siblings, and I’m proud to have earned my law degree here in Wisconsin from Marquette University Law School.  I graduated from Marquette Law in 1992 with honors and worked as a civil litigator before joining the Wisconsin Appellate Courts.  My late husband and I raised our three wonderful children here in Waukesha County.
